Pearls form when a mollusk coats an irritant in layer after layer of nacre the same iridescent substance that lines the inside of its shell until it hardens into a smooth, rounded bead. Unlike faceted gemstones, no cutting or polishing creates the shape; it's entirely built by the organism itself over time.
These are light blue Czech pearls, dyed to that cool pastel tone rather than left in the natural cream range most pearls occur in.
Good for someone who wants pearls with a bit more color than the classic white.
