Botryoidal Agate gets its name from the Greek word for "grape" a reference to the smooth, rounded clusters it forms as silica deposits in layers over mineral surfaces, rather than filling a hollow cavity the way most agate does. That surface-growth process is what gives it the distinct grape-like bumps instead of the usual banded pattern.
Sourced from West Texas, this specimen was wire-wrapped in gold filled wire rather than drilled, keeping its natural clustered shape intact and visible.
Good for someone who wants a stone whose texture is the main feature, not just its color.
