Mother of Pearl is nacre the same iridescent layer mollusks build to line their shells, formed from microscopic calcium carbonate platelets stacked thin enough to bend and scatter light. That layering is what gives it its shifting shimmer, different from a stone that's simply polished smooth.
Paired here with Golden Shadow Austrian crystals, the warm iridescence of the shell plays against faceted glass rather than competing with it.
