Carbon, Not Just Black
Onyx is a banded variety of chalcedony, and though it naturally occurs in various colors, the solid black stone commonly sold today is almost always dyed a practice that's been used since ancient Rome to stabilize and deepen the color of naturally lighter banded agate.
Wire-wrapped in German-style wire in a twisted oval cut, the shape gives the polished stone a bit more visual movement than a plain round bead.
Good for someone who wants a simple black stone with a bit of texture to it.
