Tourmalinated Quartz is clear quartz grown with needle-like inclusions of black tourmaline running through it, formed when the tourmaline crystallized first and quartz later filled in around it a genuine intergrowth rather than two stones simply glued together.
Cut into an oval, each piece shows a different density and direction of black needles depending on how it was sliced.
Good for a collector who wants a stone that's visibly two minerals rather than one uniform color.
