Pom-Pom Agate gets its name from the rounded, cluster-like formations that develop as silica-rich water fills cavities in surrounding rock over millions of years a distinct growth pattern separate from the plume or banded varieties found in the same region.
This piece was sourced from Needle Peak in West Texas, an area known for producing several named agate varieties in close proximity to one another.
Good for a collector who wants a larger display piece with a growth pattern different from typical plume or banded agate.
