Moss Agate forms as silica-rich water seeps through rock, leaving behind mineral inclusions that branch and spread like vegetation though nothing organic is actually inside it. The "moss" is manganese and iron oxide, trapped mid-growth within clear or milky chalcedony, a process that can take tens of millions of years.
This piece was harvested from East Needle Peak in West Texas, an area known for producing Moss Agate with strong green, brown, and rust tones in a single stone.
Good for a collector who wants a larger display piece rather than a small cut slab.
