Quartz, Not Glass
Quartz forms as silica-rich fluid cools slowly underground, allowing atoms to lock into a six-sided crystal structure the same basic mineral behind sand, but grown clear and faceted under the right pressure and time. This specimen was sourced from the Alpine, Texas area, where quartz turns up in both igneous and sedimentary rock.
Left uncut and unpolished, the raw crystal points show their natural growth pattern rather than a shaped, symmetrical form.
Good for a collector who wants quartz in its original growth state rather than tumbled or faceted.
